$$$  Falling . . . . falling . . . . falling . . . .

A recent slowing of demand through out the flower industry is keeping prices lower than expected for this time of year.

This slow down in demand appears to be in all states and attributable to a combination of causes - everything from fuel prices, the federal budget, public holidays, exchange rates and Mother's Day crops coming on late are getting the blame depending on who we talk to.

The end result is that you can grab some great flower bargains while the market is slow.

Products that are a good buy, or have gone down in price, are:
- Oriental Lily
- LA & Asiatic Lily
- Red Roses
- Freesia
- Tulips

New Products

Carnation After many months of investigation and discussions with growers we have been able to secure a year round, high quality and competitively priced supply of carnations.
The standard of these carnations is very good at the moment.
- Carnation Types available are:  Chinensis, Spray, Sim

Inva Rose Always on the look out for really high quality products we have been able to secure an ongoing availability from Inva Roses.
These roses are very large, coming from new varieties.  We are lucky to have secured a good supply all year.  The main varieties are from the breeder Preesman - see some pictures here.

Tulip & Lily We also gained access to supply of Ice Tulips and Oriental, LA, Asiatic and Longiflorum lilies grown by Bakker & Co.  These products have already been available from our own facilities and a number of other growers.
This additional high quality grower will allow us to offer a bigger quantity for export orders and a more consistent supply within Australia.

Lilium quality & weight about to improve.
Our new season Dutch bulbs are just starting to come into flowering.  This means the weight of the stems and the overall quality will increase, which will hopefully continue with minimal variation in the future.
We are working hard to minimise this seasonal up and down in quality by producing a lot of our own bulbs and buying larger sizes of bulbs.  Additionally, fluctuations in supply and quality are smoothed out with product from a number of other growers.

Bulbs & Plants for Spring 2008 through Autumn 2009.
We have started digging, grading and packing Lilium bulbs and Zantedeschia tubers on the farm.  We also have a florist line of plants for the coming season, which we classify as "desk plants" with a long life. easy care and impulse buying wow factor.
These bulbs, tubers and plants will be available for purchase in the coming months.
We will be placing photos and descriptions of these items on-line a few weeks before they become available.  If you want extra information or would like to discuss a customised production run please contact us (not available in WA, Tas or overseas).

  Multiple Email Recipients for Accounts.
If you would like more than one recipient of the order shipment and invoice notification we can now set this up for you.  This is especially useful if you need an info copy sent to your accounts department.
Just send us an email or call and we’ll get it set up straight away.

Recent Upgrades to Web Site.
We are continually looking at ways to improve the services, information and functionality of the web site.
Some of the new additions are:
- Delivery and Dispatch Date fields added, allowing pre-order up to a year in advance and better information to the customer.
- Internally, the back end order management system has had a major upgrade to make sure we better meet customer requirements, communication and order fulfillment.
- Clean up of freight calculations - now more accurate at time of order placement.

Flowers Victoria is the peak body for Victorian flower growers, florists and other key industry players who are committed to developing and promoting the cut flower industry in Australia and overseas.
